You are so needed in Azalea, and there are countless opportunities for you to get involved as a volunteer. Your time is precious, and so we want you to know that whatever you decide to do, Azalea wouldn’t be what it is without you. Whether you have a heart for working on the frontline with the men and women directly, or prefer to bring your time, gifts and experience to supporting the frontline, we’re sure you’ll find volunteering with Azalea a rewarding and worthwhile way to make a difference, and play your part in seeing an end to commercial sexual exploitation and sex trafficking. Almost half of our volunteers have been involved in Azalea for seven years or longer, so you will be joining a very experienced, welcoming and competent team who are highly valued by us all. The women in particular are profoundly moved that there are those who chose to take care of them and spend time with them and for them, without any financial reward.

In preparation for Frontline work with Flint and Encompass we offer a comprehensive four day training course. It has been described as being “rooted in God and based on the Bible, which gives helpful insights and practical information”. Interviews are held for volunteer positions following completion of the training.

We require a three year commitment for all Frontline Volunteer roles with the exception of the work with sex trafficking which is 12 months.

essential support.
The Frontline team need administrative and management support, communications, fundraising and a safe building to be able to function well and give the high level of care required by those caught in commercial sexual exploitation and sex trafficking. As a non-frontline volunteer you can help in any or all of these areas and support our Essential Staff team to meet the needs of the charity, the frontline team and the men and women we support.
baking.
Cakes are an essential for Azalea, particularly for Encompass, so if you love to bake, and don’t always want to enjoy it yourself we would love to have you join our group of wonderful bakers. Of course, we could go to a supermarket and buy sweet treats, but handing out homemade baked goodies communicates that someone cared enough to give up their time to make them. You will be on a rota, and wouldn’t be expected to bake more than once a month.

When the women come to Encompass they are often hungry, having not eaten for days. Our freezers are stocked with single portions of nourishing homemade meals which can be heated immediately or taken away to be eaten later. If you love to cook, and can rustle up a curry, tuna pasta, spaghetti bolognaise or chilli con carne (and others!) then this is the team for you. We also offer a meal at Alpha, with a main course and dessert, and are grateful to those who can provide this for as well.

Whether the tools of your trade are for painting or decorating; plumbing or electrics; general maintenance or car mechanic; even hairdressing or manicure we also need volunteers with practical skills.
