SEX TRAFFICKING: A TOOLKIT FOR COMMUNITIES.

This toolkit is a collaboration between LAST (Luton Against Sex Trafficking), Azalea and Safer Streets Bedfordshire with the aim of informing and empowering you to understand and take safe action in order to see sex trafficking reduce in your neighbourhood. The LAST initiative exists to inspire communities to find local solutions to the local problem of sex trafficking.

The toolkit offers a wealth of information relating to defining the problem: including terms and definitions of Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking; Sex Trafficking; How to recognise the signs of Sex Trafficking; Case Studies and Myth Busting. In addition, you will find robust and practical answers to the question what can we do about it? This is presented with information relating to the importance of reporting; Flint; the Nordic Model; contacts for local and National services and how to stay informed.

If you are aware of Sex Trafficking in your neighbourhood, and want to share your concerns with someone, please get in touch with any of the listed contacts on our LAST page.

BRIDGING THE GAPS - PROJECT TAMAR

Front Cover Bridging the Gaps.png

Sponsored by Lloyds Bank Foundation, the aim of the Bridging the Gaps report was to initiate a response to the issues of provision for sex trafficking survivors in Bedfordshire focusing on their empowerment. The report identifies contextualised and achievable recommendations, based on gap analysis, for those involved in the protection of international sex trafficked women in the Bedfordshire area.

The findings have, in large part, been informed by multiple interviews with key stakeholders in the area of tackling international sex trafficking in Bedfordshire. We have also interviewed people outside of the Bedfordshire area where we feel they have a ‘best practice’ model that we would like to learn from and apply, in part, to our recommendations for best practice in Bedfordshire.

If you would like a copy of the report, please click the button below to send us an email with your request. We will then send you the report using WeTransfer.

MODERN SLAVERY AND HUMAN TRAFFICKING.

As the Bridging the Gaps report was launched, Emma Koroma, our Deputy CEO gave a useful and sobering presentation relating to Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking. Alongside definitions of modern slavery, human trafficking and sex trafficking, the presentation provides statistics relating to sex trafficking, explores vulnerability factors for it and details how traffickers work and why it is so prevalent.
