Board of Trustees

The Board of Trustees, as detailed below, meets every quarter and are responsible for the governance of the charity, ensuring it meets its statutory responsibilities as well as determining overall strategy, policies and direction with the expert guidance of the Senior Leadership Team. The Trustees delegate day-to-day management of the charity to the Senior Leadership Team.

Sub-Committees

There are four key decision-making sub committees, each comprised of at least two Trustees and one member of the Senior Leadership Team.. These committees are: Consulting and Partnering, Finance, People and Culture, and Structures.

Public Benefit

The Trustees have referred to information in the Charity Commissions guidance on public benefit and in particular how planned activities contribute to the vision of the charity and the fulfilment of key project aims and objectives.

Vision

ALL NATIONS WALKING FREE FROM SEX TRAFFICKING MATTERS. Driven by the belief that every person matters, Azalea works to empower and facilitate sustainable transformation in the lives of the men, women and neighbourhoods impacted by sex trafficking. Through the sharing of expertise in this seemingly insurmountable global issue, Azalea then mobilises others to do likewise.

  • Martyn Shea

    CHAIR OF TRUSTEES

    Martyn is the Vicar of St Hugh’s Lewsey in Luton he has 26 years of pastoral ministry experience and has been involved in leading a spectrum of Charities over the years. He is married to Liz who is a wonderful singer/songwriter and singing teacher who is involved with Azalea in Flourish. We are passionate about seeing the voiceless heard, the exploited set free, perpetrators brought to justice and everyone getting a chance to experience unconditional liberating love.

  • Sam Hargreaves

    TRUSTEE - VISION & VALUES; CONSULTING & PARTNERING

    Sam is co-Team Leader at Engage Worship, a charity which offers resources and training for local church worship. Previous to that he has worked for London School of Theology and two Anglican churches.

  • Will Treasure

    TRUSTEE - STRATEGY & FINANCE

    Will was appointed a Trustee in 2022. He was co-founder and director of a retail consulting business, which grew from 3 to 250 people over 20 years. He is chairman of the trustees of Step, a local Christian schools’ work charity, founder of a church leaders pastoral support charity, a trustee of Harpenden Spotlight on Africa and is active in his Harpenden church. He is married with four children and is passionate about helping the most vulnerable in society. And he loves cycling!

  • Amanda McCalla-Leacey

    TRUSTEE - PEOPLE’S COMMITTEE

    Amanda is an HR Managing Director with over 20 years of experience working in Human Resources in a global organisation. She has lived and worked in India, China, France and the US, in addition to the UK. Amanda has a generalist HR background and currently leads Accenture’s global Inclusion and Diversity work. Accenture has offices in 50+ countries and >500,000 employees.

  • Anna Theron

    TRUSTEE - STRUCTURES COMMITTEE

    Anna is an executive and personal coach, specialising in coaching neurodiverse (e.g. those who have ADHD, dyslexia, or are on the Autism spectrum) executives and entrepreneurs. She retrained as a coach after spending several decades working as a chartered accountant. Anna is married and a mother to three strapping lads/young men (which she claims as her most important job). The three values underpinning her work are empowerment, freedom and relationships, which are shown through her involvement in the community, with youth and working within education. Anna spends her spare time travelling, and relaxing through creativity, gardening, reading, and roaming the countryside with her family and/or very lively dog.

  • Gerard van der Westhuyzen

    TRUSTEE - SAFEGUARDING

    Gerard is a Deputy Headteacher in a local primary school. He has nearly 15 years experience in education where he has worked in a variety of front line and managerial roles. Gerard is involved in safeguarding work with several organisations and is passionate about safeguarding all stakeholders associated the with work and ministry at Azalea.
