Working with women caught in sexual exploitation

90% of women involved in prostitution have been physically abused as children.* The majority of women we meet entered prostitution at the age of 13 controlled by a family member or boyfriend.

68% of women in prostitution meet the criteria for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder in the same range as torture victims and combat veterans undergoing treatment.**
Two thirds of women in prostitution experience violence from their clients. ***

One study found that 75% of women in prostitution had attempted suicide and that these women comprised of 15% of all completed suicides.****
